2017 FLAM Conference

This session will introduce participants to the new Missouri Seal of Biliteracy. Attendees will leave with a solid understanding of the steps needed to adopt the Missouri Seal at the district level as well as ideas and strategies to promote the Seal and recognize recipients.

How do we inspire our students to continue their language learning? How do we make our classes stand out? How do we bring more students into our programs? How do we integrate our community into the path to proficiency? Join us as we discuss practical answers to these questions and explore ACTFL’s Lead with Languages resources to make your program shine!

Each year the five universities are required to meet annually, per our Memorandum of Agreement. Since we all attend FLAM, we hold our meeting there. It is open to whomever wishes to attend, should they wish to see how an online FL consortium works.

Department chairs from throughout Missouri address in a panel discussion of the changing landscape of the university foreign language department and ongoing challenges faced by liberal arts disciplines. Issues to be treated include advocacy for languages, the continued decline in state funding, and collaboration with secondary educators.  This session provides a unique forum for the exchange of information and ideas among university and secondary educators as we seek to strengthen the profession and provide opportunities for students.

Whether you are teaching in a K-12 school or at the university level, the AATF has something for you. In this interactive session, we will discuss resources available from the AATF and brainstorm ideas about activities you would like to see happen in our chapter.
